Pennsylvania-Arizona Investigation Results in Ten Years Prison for Phoenix Pharmacist
In February 2007, investigators from the Montgomery County Pennsylvania District Attorney's Office ICAC Task Force arrested a trafficker of unlawful images who traded contraband pictures and videos with an unknown person in Arizona.
Further investigation by detectives from the Arizona ICAC/Phoenix PD resulted in a July 2008 search warrant for the Phoenix residence of Mark Anthony Nieman. Evidence was seized and Nieman made admissions to the offenses. Investigators learned that Nieman was a married 54 year old pharmacist with two teenage daughters.
Nieman was charged with only ten of the many images and videos in his computer. The Maricopa County Attorneys Office handled plea negotiations.
On September 8, 2009, Nieman plead guilty to reduced charges related to the images: one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor (child pornography).
Judge Warren J. Granville of the Maricopa County Superior Court sentenced Nieman to ten years prison, lifetime probation, sex offender registration and other penalties.
