Edwin A. Abrams - Arrest

Arrested: Edwin A. Abram - Investigators Seeking Public Help - Aggravated Luring of a Minor for Sexual Exploitation & Furnishing Harmful Items to a Minor via the Internet.

In March 2010 an Internet crimes against children investigation began that led to the identification of 26 year old Edwin A. Abram.  Investigators from the Arizona ICAC / Phoenix PD believe that Abram, a citizen of Iraq and resident of Phoenix, committed Aggravated Luring of a Minor for Sexual Exploitation and Furnishing Harmful Items to a Minor in violation of Arizona State laws.

Abram's whereabouts were traced to a northwest Phoenix residence where he lives with other family members.  Affidavits and search warrants for the location were prepared and served on April 22, 2010. Abrams was arrested on probable cause for the crimes.  He made statements and was booked into the Maricopa County Jail charged with Aggravated Luring of a minor for Sexual Exploitation and Furnishing Harmful Items to a Minor.

Assisting in the investigation and warrant were detectives and special agents from Phoenix PD/AZ ICAC Task Force, FBI, and U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for charging.

Anyone with further information about Edwin A. Abram should contact the Phoenix Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at 602-650-3179.

Arizona Revised Statute 13-3560, Aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation, was first enacted in 2008 for the purpose of combating the growing threat from offenders who use electronically trafficked images and web cameras to contact and groom minors towards unlawful sex acts.

The ICAC program is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 2,000 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. These agencies engage in proactive investigations, forensic investigations, and criminal prosecutions. Task Force efforts are supported in part by grants from the Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's ICAC Program.
