Case highlights for 2013
In January 2013, ICAC/FBI agents in Colorado interviewed the suspect during a child pornography case. They learned the suspect produced several pictures and videos of himself molesting his biological daughter. Agents reached out to the AZICAC/FBI from Colorado and requested assistance. Detectives located the victim in Phoenix and the electronic evidence. AZICAC detectives interviewed the child victim and she disclosed her biological father was molesting her and made movies of the sexual abuse and traded them with other offenders. The information was quickly provided to agents in Colorado and the suspect was arrested and booked on numerous child molest and child porn charges.
In February of 2013, during a proactive investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, (Phoenix Police) and the FBI Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, arrested a 62 year old man, for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. It was learned the suspect had a large quantity of images and movies that involved the sexual abuse of young children to include infants. The suspect was arrested and admitted to the crimes. The suspect admitted to the crimes and was booked into jail on multiple counts of crimes against children.
In March 2013, during a reactive investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, (Phoenix Police) and the FBI Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, arrested a 30 year old man for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. During the search of the residence, there was evidence located that indicated the suspect was trading and downloading images and videos of very young children. A substantial amount of videos and pictures were found at the suspect’s residence. The suspect was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and failure to register as a sex offender.
In April 2013, during a reactive investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested a 24 year old man for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. During the search of the residence, there was evidence located that indicated the suspect was trading and downloading images and videos of very young children. It was learned the suspect was arrested when he was 16 years old and charged as a minor for possessing sexual exploitive pictures of young children. Movies and pictures of young children under five were located on a thumb drive hidden near the suspect’s bed and also on a laptop he had hidden. The suspect was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
In May 2013, an Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigator from the Phoenix Police Department served a search warrant on a residence that had been identified as trafficking in child sexual exploitation images. During the search warrant, numerous computers and images and videos of young children being sexually abused were discovered. The suspect admitted to trafficking in child sexual exploitation images. After further interviews and investigation, the suspect admitted to molesting at least 15 children. Investigators identified 7 of the victims and are in the process of identifying the additional children. The children were all known to the suspect, including his younger 9 year old brother. The suspect was booked at Maricopa County Jail on numerous sex crimes.
In May 2013, during a proactive investigation by the Arizona Crimes Against Children Task Force, identified the suspect’s residence as trafficking in videos and images of young children (under 5) being sexually abused. During the forensic exam of the computers, numerous pictures and videos of an adult male and female were located molesting a 3 year old boy and also using a dog to offend on the child. Detectives worked the case and located the female and arrested her. In addition, the adult male was located three days later and arrested. Detectives worked 25 hours straight trying to locate the victim. After 74 hours of investigation, that covered three days, the victim was located and saved from the offender. Both suspects were booked on sexual exploitation of a minor, dangerous crimes against children and child molestation.
In July of 2013, during an investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigators arrested a 34 year old man, for Luring a Minor for Sexual Exploitation and Child Molestation. The investigation began after the suspect was identified chatting online with a minor and sending images of children being sexually abused. The suspect was interviewed and admitted he molested another child in another state. Authorities were contacted and the suspect was arrested. The suspect was charged with numerous Dangerous Crimes Against Children.
In August of 2013, investigators from Las Vegas and Arizona discovered the suspect was trading images of a little girl being sexually abused. There were a significant number of pictures of videos of the girl. The girl was first seen in the images when she was 4 years old and up until she is 9 years old. The suspect was identified as living here in the Phoenix area. The victim was still in contact with the suspect. Investigators located the victim and she was forensically interviewed. The victim disclosed sexual abuse and said that it was her in the pictures and movies. The crimes occurred in Arizona and Las Vegas. Task Force members located the suspect and he was arrested. Evidence was recovered. The suspect was booked on numerous charges and the child was saved. Great job by all involved.
In September of 2013, during an investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigators arrested a 32 year old man. Patrol officers responded to a 911 call of possible child molestation and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Officers arrived and discovered the suspect had fled. Officers spoke with the mother and 13 year old victim. The mother provided the officers with a letter that was written to the minor child. It was several pages long and talked about numerous sex acts he wanted to do to the child. The letter lured the minor into a number of sexual acts and described how they can hide it from others. It was very graphic and the victim stated she has been feeling nervous around the suspect. The mother also indicated the suspect was worried about his computer and wanted it. The mother believes the suspect has images of children being sexually abused on his computer. Investigators located the suspect and interviewed him; the suspect admitted he lured the minor into the sex idea because “he wanted to teach her about sex”. The suspect was booked on several counts of luring and attempt sex conduct with a minor. Dangerous Crimes Against Children.
In October of 2013, during an investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigators arrested a 25 year old man for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. There was also a 357 Magnum revolver in another bedroom where he lived. He also had writings and was attempting to learn how to write in Arabic. He was discharged under dishonorable conditions from the U.S. Army. The suspect had two laptops in his bedroom and they both contained a large quantity of videos and pictures of children being sexually assaulted.
In November of 2013, during an investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigators arrested a 34 year old man for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. During the investigation into the voyeurism case, the suspect’s computers were seized and during the forensic exam images of children being sexually abused were found. The suspect had extensive files and had over 1.5TB of movies and pictures of young children being sexually abused. The suspect is a registered sex offender and was arrested at the probation officers office. The suspect was interviewed again and made admissions. The suspect was booked on numerous Crimes Against Children charges. He was also charged with sex offender violations and is being held non-bondable on those charges.
In December of 2013, during an investigation by the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigators arrested two men ages 34 and 35 for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Attempt child molestation, and Sexual Conduct with a Minor. During the investigation, images were intercepted that were being traded between the two suspects. One of the suspects lived in Phoenix and the other in the U.S. Army and deployed overseas. Investigators discovered the identity of the account holders and obtained the conversation the two men were having. The adult male in the Army was asking the adult male here in Phoenix to molest his two children ages 5 and 2 and send him the pictures. Both of them sent images of young children being molested to one another. The suspects were interviewed and admitted to the crimes and both admitted they were sexually attracted to female girls around 8 years old; they also had a cell phone that had additional images and evidence. One suspect denied he molested his daughters. The children were saved and the suspects were arrested.
